Riding School

At Freedom Reins Riding School, our lesson program is designed as a structured, skill-building journey rooted in true Western horsemanship. Students ages 5–17 participate in 50-minute lessons that go far beyond simply riding in the arena. Our program combines arena work, trail riding, and dedicated groundwork to create well-rounded riders who understand not just how to ride a horse, but how to communicate with and care for one. Built on the “ask, tell, make” philosophy, each lesson emphasizes empathy, clarity, and confidence—developing both horse and rider together.

This is not a one-dimensional riding program. Each month includes a dedicated ground lesson focused on horse behavior, grooming, handling, and safety, ensuring students build a strong foundation from the ground up. Arena lessons develop balance, control, and technical riding skills, while trail lessons provide real-world experience that builds confidence and trust in a variety of environments. Our goal is to create capable, knowledgeable riders who can think, respond, and adapt—not just follow instruction.

Freedom Reins operates with the consistency and progression of a school program, giving families a clear sense of growth and achievement. Students are placed in small, age- and skill-appropriate groups to ensure individualized instruction and a safe, supportive learning environment. Progress is steady and intentional, allowing riders to build confidence at their own pace while developing true horsemanship skills that will stay with them for life.

Throughout the year, students are given opportunities to showcase their progress in a meaningful and exciting way. Our quarterly rodeos allow riders to demonstrate their skills for family and the community, building pride and confidence in their accomplishments. The year concludes with our Winter Wonderland Show, a special end-of-year event that celebrates each student’s growth before we take a short break for the Christmas and New Year season.

At Freedom Reins, we are raising more than riders—we are developing responsibility, resilience, and a deep respect for animals. Our students leave with strong riding fundamentals, a true understanding of horsemanship, and the confidence to carry those skills both in and out of the saddle.
